The
principal objective of the Trust is to provide support to a wide range of charitable
activities, primarily within Essex and North East London, whilst maintaining and
developing the value of the Trusts investments and assets. The Trusts
four Trustees, all of whom have connections to the late Charles French, are committed
to managing the Trust in his memory and for the promotion and advancement of such
charitable bodies, associations and trusts as they may consider at their discretion.
The aim is to maximise the value of annual grants made by supporting charities
which demonstrate that they make a worthwhile contribution to the needs and lives
of others, whilst keeping costs and overheads low.
In the year to 31st March 2012 the
largest amount of grants went to Medical Projects (27%). The next largest was
Youth and Children Projects (21%) and then Disabled and Disadvantaged Projects
(15%), Community and Arts Projects (13%), Educational Projects (12%), Elderly
Projects (7% ) and Sports and Holiday Projects (5%).
